Merdeka Kita!

i haven't been blogging much,

been superbly busy at the office

with deadlines and such,

and being that Ramadan was at it's end and Raya was coming,

I've been focusing on not missing any work,

and since i'm not taking any raya leave i hope i can finish everything

lusa dah start kerja dah, on Friday,

and I'm keen on finishing a few more job bags.

yes Raya is the main agenda but let's not 

forget that Merdeka is also here,

promising the best of what we have to offer as Malaysian

on our 54th Independence day.

i am thankful to be a Malaysian and proud

that i am not only friends with the Malays

but am very tight with every race, religion and language speaking

buddies! and no! i don't pretend to be liberal

and friends with everyone cause it's politically

but it's cause their personality match mine.

and i pray that i am not as bigot,

i hope i've coloured my life with

homosexuals, bisexual, transsexual, straight, gay,

both-ways, one ways and no ways

and i hope they love me too..

A Tribute For Beauty

today we lost a major key person in fashion.

his name was Alex Eu, he was familiar to me

as i was a huge tonton-er of How Do I Look,

a fashion forward talk show that aired about 10 years ago on Astro

(correct me if I'm wrong)

and Alex was also a major part of Sheila Majid's beauty regime team,

jarang you'll get to see Sheila being done by someone else other than Alex.

and he was good at what he does.

he was also a major party and glamor scene crowd and is always at events and such,

and yes Alex was a lively person, always smiling and such,

i was introduced to him once at Glam Magazine's event waaay back when while i was working

with Eh! Magazine and BluInc.

and he was friendly and is always red and blushing, maybe from laughing.

he was always surrounded by people giving him hugs and air kisses.

above is a video i saw as one of Alex Eu's major project, 

i remember watching the behind the scene for this video on How Do I Look? 

Though I've never really meet nor talk to him in person, 

but i know that he was dearly loved.

September sees InTrend berpaksi pada tema nan sama,

tahun ke tiga InTrend mengangkat gaya bertudung.

hijab menjadi mainan lembar utama dalam palitan paling trendy.

wajah wakilan nan baru berhijrah to the other side,

namun masih mahu kekal seri nan sopan. 

punya pelbagai idea gaya bisa sauk digaya seharian.

sesuai untuk modern day hijabista

tampil fashion forward. 

tepis apa mahu dicaci cerca. 

At the end of the day, 

ia antara anda dengan yang paling Esa.

Nan niat nawaitu di hati biarlah ikhlas kerana Dia.

Girl Power!

just finished watching Sucker Punch,

a movie my wanie ask me to tengok because 

it's kitschy and it stars that girl i like from 

A Series of Unfortunate Events and also the girl from Stepmom,

when i googled the movie and saw that it was brought by the same creator of

300 and Watchmen, i kindda new the kind of movie i was about to watch,

very dramatic, great graphics and major action scene,

and boy was i right,

i love the whole female empowerment superheroes esque

macam Sin City and DOA : Dead Or Alive and such

as the girls always kick major ass and gets hit back hard

but they still do it in a pair of Mary Jane heels and rambut kepuk kepuk

and Sucker Punch is totally down that alley,

the fact that the 5 girls are smoking hot,

fires gun-shit and blow things up

while still having their Shu Uemura fake eyelashes in place is just oh so cool

the music, the digital imaging and the effect are terrific,

the only bummer part was that i find the jalan cerita

a wee bit dry and membosankan. 

hmm not much back story to the characters and such

but yeah it is enjoyable and OK to watch on a boring sunday nite,

all and all it's an A for the fashion, looks, makeup and styling

also for everything else but the jalan cerita.

I'll give an OK C for that. 
oh and also a major capital A++ for the movie posters,
aren't they amazing?

p/s - Carla Gugino is da bomb also, tapi xbanyak sangat, 

she wears the hottest eye makeup here.

when i first saw these pictures from the

America's Next Top Models All Stars Cycle

aka Cycle 17

was horrendous,
i don't get the concept, why is it that some of them looks like
they stole baju from Lady Gaga's wardrobe 
while some looks like
they're going shopping or out clubbing and whoring!
The weirder part is a few of them looks like they're even going
swimming or fishing.
i really really really don't get it

i mean like seriously,

Australia's only up to cycle 7

which is down by 10,

and they are amazing kot yer...

i can only see a bunch of girls who can make it here,

i mean seriously if you wanna go all stars try getting the best-est girls

like Elyse Sewell, Katarzyna, Fatimah, Mollie Sue, Ann Ward or at least Anchal

these are some of the girls that's really working

on runways and such in the real modelling world.

Heart's Tale

is majorly addicted to this song

since i naik kereta ngan hatta as he would play this song on loop.

i've heard of it before and saw the video,

but it took a ride to the pasar ramadan with hatta to make me really appreciate this song.

me thinks the melody is beautiful,

her voice soothes and paired with the music is just uh maze ing

and i must say the video is great

I've a thing for Ghaz's video clip as it's always very modern

think The Fabulous Cat's Cinta Kosmik, Dayang Nurfaizah and Marcell's Sayang

and off course Alyah's previous video Kau Bisu.

one thing i must say about alyah is that she tries to push the boundaries of style

and being more fashion forward sometimes i think she succeed but sometimes it's a major mess

but i think lately she's been focusing more on working with the right team of stylist,

great directors and makeup artist. She doesn't skip on it by getting it sponsored,

she pay good money for it and i must say it shows,

in the video she looks stunningly beautiful with great

cinematography! job well well done.

i know for a fact that the stylist for this video is my mentor

Yanna Husin who taught me a bunch when i moved from Seventeen to InTrend.

Wolvy and Peeps

the geeky nerd side of myself

is totally out now that I've been torrenting

and watching Wolverine And The X-Men

has gotten me sooooo excited and happy. 

i mean this is the third installment of the X-Men anime cartoon

the first one being the one in the 90's 

i think it was played on TV2 or something

the second one was X-Men Evolutions that portrayed most of the main 

characters as teenagers. 

but the new one is amazingly fabulous for me,

sooo puas sangat tengok this series,

macam there were plenty if special appearances characters

that u don't see in the movie or previous anime,

you would only know these characters if u read the comics

such as Dust, Dazzler, Polaris and Domino.

best nya! 

i hope they'll continue for the second season and such

sesuai buat sahur bulan-bulan ramdan ini

since my second cita-cita was to be a chef,

kiranya termakbul lah impian iols

sikit now,

he he he,

anyhow i don't think this is a groundbreaking new recipe

but it is for me,

learned it from a friend,

thanks ms jing jing! 

ok so,

bahan-bahan yang tuan-tuan perlukan is..

(i sound so ela eli from along instead of Chef Wan at Kuali)

an instant noodle, preferably a soupy one

my pick would be Maggi's Hot Cup Noodles

perasa kari sbb iols melayu okeyy

but up to your anak tekaklah

it could be chicken or vege or prawn,

but i don't guaranty it'll taste as good as curry or chicken

so seperti biasa tuangkan air panas ke dalam hot cup itew

dan bukan di tangan anda, nanti terbakar ala2 kak ziana kita,

sian dia uols..

sesudah bubuh air panas dan tuang bumbu perasa,

buang bekas bumbu perasa itu kedalam tong sampah

duh!

sesudah itu amik a piece of cheese from the fridge.

have only tried those square cheese-dale cheese,

tapi kalau uols feeling urban dan nak cuba it with blue cheese ke, cream cheese ke,

mozarella cheese ke, cheese bedebah ke

itu ikut suka hati uols

so bubuh lah cheese itu kedalam hot cup noodles itu dan tutup bahagian atasnya

rapat-rapat, no no no jangan pakai jamu perapat

pakai pinggan sudahlah kok yer

kalau uols nak feeling lebih yummy bubuh lah cheese tu dua tiga keping

jangan dua tiga pack uols

dan kalau nak pedas mai amik sat cili padi tu

potong bubuh mai dalam.

and siap! tara! Maggi bercheese! 

ok but seriously

walaupun post i hari ni ala2 kak senduk,

this recipe is actually really good,

it tastes a bit like carbonara,

seriously tau! tak tipu

kalau takut nak try with curry pakai chicken flavour instead

so jangan lupa mencuba

Flattered or Flustered?

 to the four readers that actually reads my blog

knows that i collect almost every cover 

every month dalam negara ini (wahh negara tau!)

though i work for InTrend Magazine

i'm kinda a fan of all magazines

i like reading each and everyone

(the chinese magazine i just look at the pictures lah)

( seriously i think NuYou, Men's Uno and Jessica are amazing)

anywhoot, 

saw Perempuan's July 2011 cover and said to myself,

this looks a wee bit like my InTrend April 2011 cover,

but i macam apa-apa lah,

and then the month of august saw Stailista doing the same 

kindda lay out for their cover of Nur Fathia,

hmmm

i don't wanna blog about stuffs 

that'll make my 4 readers hate me,

i mean i bukan rasa diri ni penting

that my work is soooo good it's been duplicated.

as i think we all look at reference and ideas,

sometimes from international titles 

and sometimes even our local editorials, photogs and stylist are amazing

( i love suzie adnan, cris yong and bibo aswan's stuffs!!)

yes we all get inspired

but change it up and make it your own.

nevertheless

but i support any effort to make

our magazine industry a better market

to up the revenue and such.

in this month of merdeka-ness

i know u love your Vogue and Harper's and ELLE,

sometimes you don't even read it

but just buying it and logging it around city centre

makes u feel all important and stuff

yes i do that sometimes too,

but selain picking up those tittles

jeling over to our local ones

and grab a few.

local magazines are now uber cool and chic 

(some of it =p)

and it's written and styled by people you know

and bumped into at fashion industry events.

So support us, and we'll be able to make this scene better.

i sound sooo polical,

maybe leh jadi Mayor,

i bet i'll be better at it than the people now.
